Seek the comforter. – Devotional

Has Jesus ever asked you to do something you were scared to do? I know this has definitely been the case for me. Early 2025, I felt the Lord place Guatemala on my heart. I was a little confused. After I prayed on it, I got some clarity and felt like the Lord was leading me to go on a missions trip and minister in Guatemala. I had never been out of the country and I was terrified. I was so uncomfortable with the thought of flying on a plane, to another country BY MYSELF with people I had never met before. To make a long story short- I decided to take the step of faith and the Lord worked everything out.

On this trip, I was praying for people in a language they didn’t understand, I was doing physical labor, I was serving with people I had never met, I was sharing my testimony, I never was in control of what we were doing, etc. This list could go on forever….. To sum it all up, I was EXTREMELY outside of my “comfort” zone. Then the Lord revealed to me, I didn’t know what true comfort felt like.

He began to teach me the difference between worldly comfort and Godly comfort. Godly comfort FEELS uncomfortable in the moment, because of our sinful nature. BUT by being obedient and pushing through that barrier of false security, you allow yourself to feel the grace and love of our Heavenly Father. That’s true comfort. Having to completely rely on him and truly rest in HIS presence IS comfortable. The most growth I have ever experienced is stepping outside of my comfort zone and allowing the Lord to show me what true comfort feels like.

The Lord wants us to feel His love and grace fill us up! Allow Him to push you out of your comfort zone so that HE can reveal to you what TRUE comfort feels and looks like. It might be scary and feel overwhelming in the moment but you will never experience anything like it. Walking in step with the Holy Spirit and fully relying on Him to guide your steps is the greatest feeling of comfort I have ever experienced. The freedom that comes with stepping out in faith is so rewarding.

If you feel like the Lord has put something on your heart, get outside of your comfort zone and DO IT. The Lord works in the uncomfortable. You never know what’s waiting on the other side of your obedience. Seek direction and walk in step with the Holy Spirit. Experience true comfort for yourself!

Practical advice:

-Find one small step you can make towards the thing God has put on your heart. TAKE IT !!! -> Watch how God will work in your uncomfort.

Prayer:

“ Jesus, thank you for being our true comfort. Thank you for leading us closer to you. Teaching us about how much you love us through offering opportunities to grow our faith. Please strengthen us to walk in step with your spirit even when it feels uncomfy. Give us the desire to get out of what we see as comfortable and lean into THE comforter. Help us be bold to trust in you. Amen. “

 Reflection:

What are some areas of your life you might be too reliant on the comfort the world has to offer? How can you lean into Jesus’ comfort in those areas instead?

I'm Hallie Rose

I grew up active in church but it wasn’t until 2022 that I truly encountered what it means to have a genuine relationship with Jesus. Ever since then, I’ve felt called to share how God has guided & strengthened me, hoping my journey can bring encouragement and hope to others. I’m a wife, an outdoor lover, & a coffee fanatic. I’m happiest when thrifting, hiking, spending time with people I love and connecting with you.
